Connections

Ask your players which investigator knows Issy (she/her) (the groundskeeper). Additionally, ask the following questions, allowing a different players to answer each separate question.

  • Where did Issy work as a groundskeeper before Oxbury gardens?
  • What important person did Issy let into the location after dark?
  • What strange event occurred in the location leading to the death of the important person?
  • How did the investigator who has the connection with Issy solve this strange event?

Optionally, the other investigators can each have one connection with one of the following individuals. Don’t let the player know what they have become.

  • Emile (he/him): A famous folk musician known for his brilliance. He has taken to angrily complaining about young people listening to brain rotting music.
    • Wanted to record the sound of the bell for his new album.
    • Now the Gramophone head.
  • Almon (he/him): An old american pensioner who served in Vietnam. They are often seen at the pub happy to swap tales with any willing to drink whiskey with him.
    • Came to see the bell because he thought it was a Bell UH-1 Iroquois (American military helicopter first used in combat operations during the Vietnam War).
    • Now the Rotary phone head.
  • Chris (he/him): An anxious analog tech hipster. Whilst not working on his history PhD at his prestigious university he is hunting for treasure at various charity shops, auctions, and car boot sales.
    • He is Jamie’s PhD student and followed her to see the bell.
    • Now the Typewriter head.
  • Julie (she/her): An influencer fitness instructor known for using lively folktronic music in her videos. Like many performers she loves attention but cares too much about how others see her.
    • When she heard Emile was going to view the bell she jumped at the opportunity to meet her hero.
    • Now the CRT TV head
  • Georgina (she/her): A train spotting enthusiast she finds it hard to focus other things. She recently moved from Edinburgh to the South of England for a new start.
    • Initially interested in the miniature train at Oxbury gardens she became strangely enamoured by the bell.
    • Now the Steam whistle head
  • Jamie (they/them): A professor of history, specifically looking at how bells were used throughout history. Ironically they are tone-deaf, much to the humour of their colleagues.
    • Came to study the bell to try to discern its origin. Brought Chris their PhD student along.
    • Now the Chalkboard head
