Tower

The tower is a wide concrete hexagonal tower. The concrete’s surface is textured and coloured to look like a black and white honey comb.

The tower has four floors and is highly defended. Attacking the tower to destroy the beam catcher is most likely going to be a combat heavy methods.

Entrance

Their is one heavily defended entrance from the outside into the ground floor.

2d6 Sandbound doppelgangers guard the ground whilst further patrol the platform on the 1st floor.

Ground floor

The ground floor is the living quarters for the mercenaries and workers of the Solar Tower.

Floor features

It is a large modular area with the following features:

  • The floor consists of 2 metre sided hexagonal glass panels
  • Between the panels (the sides of the hexagons) 2 metre high walls can be raised and lowered
  • Perched on top of the wall panels is one large transparent glass panel
  • The true ceiling is 3 metres high and plastered with cameras controlled by the security on the 2nd floor

The characteristics of the glass panels includes:

  • Very tough and 1 inch thick
  • Opaque with white and black marbling

The area is normally divided into rooms of various sizes. These rooms including:

  • Dormitories
  • Recreational areas
  • Offices
  • Amenities (cafeteria, washing rooms etc.)

Defenses

The cameras and floor panels are controlled by security on the second floor. They use this to their advantage to keep an eye out for intruders. If they detect intruders they will alert the base. To confuse and tire out the intruders they will lower and raise the walls to try to force them to go in disorientating circles and to separate the team of intruders. the base’s Sol will also mock the intruders.

Once tired or if the intruders figure out the trick an ambush will be setup of 3d6 Sandbound doppelgangers flanking the team from lowered walls.

If all other plans fail security may attempt to trap and crush the intruders under the massive glass panel atop the hexagonal walls.

Elevator

There are 2 large elevators that give access to the first floor located on the far wall from the entrance. The have no buttons instead be controlled by security who use cameras to determine who can go to which floors.

Beside the elevators are emergency ladders that give access to the first floor.

1st floor

  • 1st floor: transport and storage.
    • Room full of cargo containers. Large conveyor belts like the luggage moving of an airport fill the area.
    • In the centre large electrical cables descend from the ceiling to charge the large box batteries that weigh a tonne.
    • Three fingered articulated tentacle like arms move the batteries onto, between and off the conveyor belts.
    • Around the outside is a platform that surrounds the entire cylindrical tower. Cargo crates are offloaded and picked up by the Giant Adult antlions via cargo hooks.

2nd floor

l station and security.

3rd floor

The beam catchers and the associated engineering machines
