Session Six

Plan

  • Company land at Inis Ocular to gather the levy and carry out various other things they want
  • Mentha the Mint is worried about this promised child

Landing

  • The company enter the keep and are immediately brought to The Shield Knight
    • She feeds them and dotes on The Leaf Knight
    • Tells them she is being blackmailed by Mentha the Mint
  • The company sleep in the tower
  • Silk & Leaf talk to Mentha in the observatory (top of tower)
    • Mentha complains about the power the knights horde and refuse to share
  • Story and Salt rile up the public at the port in pubs
    • They find the boatsmen (Alfonsino, Bream, and Dace who help)
    • Acquire 2 militia warbands to attack the fortress
    • However memebrs of the Emerald lights over hear and alert the fortress
  • Silk and Leaf inquire at the clerks about finances but they are very cagey
  • The fortress goes into lockdown
    • Silk and Leaf locked in their shared room in the observatory tower with 2 guards positioned outside

The Child’s uprising

  • The Salt Knight approaches the front of the fortress with no one but a lutier
    • Mentha along with 2 bowed skirmisher warbands wait on the walls at the gate
    • Also mercenaries in the walls and 1 skirmisher warband at back on walls
    • Salt and Lutier mock the Emerald Lights enraging Mentha
    • The Skirmishers open fire and Mentha unleashes the Mercenaries to chase Salt
    • Salt uses her fire sword to light the spiralled row of birch trees alight
    • This harms and temporarily traps the mercenaries allowing Salt to successfully escape
  • Story finds out about a cave system from the Boatsmen which they descend into to try to attack the fortress from below
    • This is actually the ossified guts of the red serpent
    • They find their way to a treasure room and Story tries to get them all to continue
    • However, he loses half of his forces to greed
  • Silk and Leaf try to escape and end up in a fight with the 2 guards
    • A prolonged fight ensues
    • The Guards cry for help and then shortly “surrender”
  • Story emerges out into the wine cellar of the observatory tower.
    • A butler joins the militia and gives Story a bottle of incredibly string alcohol
  • At the ground level Story hears a warband of skirmishers approaching the main door
    • He ambushes them and hacks the majority of them to pieces with his milita
  • Mentha sees this form the wall and gets angrier and angrier
  • Story, Salt, Silk, and Leaf all join together on the ground floor of the tower
  • The Shield Knight comes in round the side of the tower to join
  • Mentha tells the knights to surrender of skirmishers will open fire upon The Shield Knight
  • Story refuses by killing the rest of the skirmisher forces at the tower
  • Shield knight gets shot, fine but fatigued
  • Silk shoots Mentha who takes the hit and falls off the wall to the outside
  • Story throws a molotov over the wall hitting Mentha who is badly burned
  • However, the mercenaries arrive and put out the fire
  • Salt and Leaf join The Shield KNight and protect her from another barrage of arrows
    • They try to escaoe to cover around the tower but The Leaf Knight can’t make it
    • She is shot down by another barrage and is slain
    • However, she continues to breath after her death rattle
    • But she sees her mother, The Shield Knight, lying dead instead. She used her ability to be slain instead.
  • Mentha and her mercenaries get the outside gate open and enter the “airlock”
  • Through the inner portcullis Teh Silk knight leading the militia manage to destroy most of the mercenary war band who try to feebly fight back
  • Burnt and demoralised Mentha surrender
  • The Leaf Knight spares Mentha and the knights have won in the name of the promised child
